Ok...bit off topic but will get to the report asap.
Saturday the winds were looking pretty extreme on Anglesey so decided to fish blackpool Gynn wall, I had wanted to tackle the breakwater with 3 rods but the 40mph winds had other plans. Its not too far from my home and it got me out, driving home I realised why I go to northwales and not Blackpool where I had my first sea session. It took as long to get too as Llandudno even though its half the distance, the sea looks horrid and well I have grown accustomed to the nicer views.
Caught a small dab, a childs Kite, a plastic bag and some weed lol. Felt like I had been robbed of a proper fishing session.
Got to Llandudno northshore Sunday/today just after low, fished with fresh (from Rhos on Sea tackle shop, was biggest I have ever bought) and frozen black. Fished for 5 hours in total. I had one rod with a two hook flapper and my brother was using the same. He blanked, my son (
found a dead dogfish and mackerel fry so was happy as Larry, tied line to it and chucked it in hoping to catch something bigger!
I tried feathering as that what everyone else was doing but there was only the odd few tiny mackerel coming out, my blank saver was that 3 of these tiny mackerel came in dangling off my hooks when I changed bait, hooks nearly bigger than the fish!
Still it was good to get out, sun was out but the wind was a pain blowing the tripod over a few times until I got it weighted down. Also made bite detection a little harder but honestly don't think I missed any.
Good deed of the day... a younger sea gull didnt run from my youngest which says a lot! It had a good size fishing hook wedged in at the back off its beak, used pliers and got it out. it trundled off but didnt look in good shape.
Still a nice day to be out.
