PostSubject: Maiden voyage   Maiden voyage EmptyThu Aug 04, 2016 11:01 am

Finally completed the bits on my boat,I'll be off to try it out on the Weaver at Winsford any day soon.
Then I'll be choosing the tides at Rhyl for my first day out in it at sea.
I think the tide cycle will be around midday soon, which I need to look at if I'm making the 70 mile trip from Manchester.
Just hoping the tides and weather line up.
This will be the first time I have taken a boat out to sea,in the past I have always been out on mates boats.
I'll be bringing along a couple of rods etc,but the main thing will be to try the boat out.
Probably head for Kinmel bay.

Good luck thumbs up

It might be worth picking Longranger's brains when it comes to tides/launching/where/when and all that boat

Thanks Al,
I've never been backward in coming forward, but this is a learning curve for me.

I suppose once I have a go, it will put me more in the picture.

The boat only has a shallow draft, but getting out and in of Rhyl channel bothers me a bit.

I'm about to send you a link that might help with your deliberations on the wind

Thanks NB,that will be handy. Making a trip there is a bit of a decision, nice to be there, but a dissapointment if I can't put the boat in.

The link is still showing in my outbox so it should be in your inbox ( private message function on the site)

I used a combination of the link and XC Weather and BBC Weather to decide not to launch today even though it looked nice enough this morning

Feeling the wind outside now I think it was the right call! Difficult enough when you live here, must be very difficult when you live away off
