PostSubject: Coasting   Sun May 08, 2016 10:18 pm

Saturday morning Mehmet worked a blinder with muscle and know how to help me
drop Notbad 1 off her bunkered trailer and fit her to a roller coaster, so the least I could do was join him on the beach for Low

There are still areas of treacherous mud on Rhyl Beach - we picked our way carefully to the furthest bank to uncover, waders needed - wellies would have been sucked off

This small Plaice was taking refuge in the sloppy stuff

With DNA oozing big worms on the big tide I opted for an optimistic  big bait pennel rig tipped with fresh Razor ( they were popping up and spooting everywhere)

First up a greedy Dab

As the flood gathered pace a seal popped up 60 yards out, I knew he'd be trouble, I opened the bale arm and paid line out across the top of a sandbank and back across a gulley to safer ground before risking being cutoff and unable to pick a safe route back.

Must have been 200 yards of line out when the rod tip got quite excited and it didn't feel like a flattie either as I tried to guide whatever it was towards the gulley at the end of the bank, then it was gone, thrown the hook or nicked by the seal?

Next a Dab consolation prize

Before the sun set, the clouds gathered and it tipped it down, time to go.
