Last night after work about 20.30 I went to Seascale to fish the tide down to low water at 21.50 armed with my new favourite rod, a Fladen 14ft beachcaster which was kindly donated to me by Dave Lunt of cbvsac fame or Dave L on the forum
Strong enough to cope in a wind but at the same time rather flexible and sensitive too
(the rod not Dave... Although...)
Also in my arsenal was my trusty Arwel bucket which also was kindly donated by
Yep you guessed it Arwel
I know what your all thinking.... Scrounger
While im on the subject if anyone has any surplus kit
As it's a bit of a trek across the beach and the tide goes out quickly here so your constantly on the move the bucket was ideal and I only took two rigs and two weights, a two hook flapper with 3/0s hoping for a Codling and a beaded flatty rig incase things got desperate
I fished right upto (or down to) low water using Mackerel, frozen Lug and Squid baits but not so much as a bite so it was time for the flatty rig to be put into action with some nice sticky defrosted Welsh black
First cast and the beads worked their magic
I left the bite to develop then wound in expecting a Flounder perhaps
Funny looking Flounder
I fished on for 45 minutes into the flood but again no bites so with the time approaching 23.00 and work in the morning I contented myself that I'd had my target fish even if it was a tiddler and it was time to go
