Took the dog for a walk this afternoon and found myself strangely drawn to Splash Point where the good and great where pooling their talent to uplift a Weever
Plans were laid for Low tonight and I joined Mehmet, Alan and Danny for a long walk out across the gullies to the furthest banks ahead of the flood.
Be warned Rhyl's Gullies are not for the uninitiated in daylight, never mind at night; there is currently a particularly sneaky extra deep double gulley trap in front of the Sun Centre that floods behind you to cut off your retreat if you tarry too long on the outer banks
I'd found a tip light on the beach - looking suitable for Hallow'een
Not a fan of the clip on sort off the beach, it's too easy to forget to remove it before casting.
First cast 90 minutes before Low and the rod tip was bouncing like a good 'un
A dab to ensure no blank tonight
Second cast, oops! - forgot to remove the clip on tip light which promptly disappeared!
Fishing tonight was to a sound track of carrumps, bangs and bright fizzes, judging by the fireworks it seemed more like Guy Fawkes Night than Hallow'een. Meanwhile overhead passing Chinese lanterns and occasional meteors added to the atmosphere.
Fishing was a bit slow to start with but I think everyone broke the duck with something ashore before the Moon rise and tide turn
Next up a good bite and a Plaice for my species hunt
A stonking Dab for Mehmet
Nearly tricked into grabbing an in swinging Weever! Another score for my species count
The Whiting put in a show
Now this looked like being the year that I failed to catch my favourite, but tonight I was in for a treat, as I'm winding in I'm thinking this is not fighting remotely like a flattie and I was right!
A Hallow'een lean fighting machine and my third additional species count of the night
46cm
I'm grinning wider than a carved pumpkin!
