Low and Behold 4th and 5th July
Last time out a leg of my Salt tripod snapped ( it has seen a few years service to be fair) so Saturday afternoon I had a rummage in my collection of bits that will come in handy one day and found a bit of an old tripod leg and a bit of aluminium tube rescued from a bin bound wind chime that fitted perfectly inside it and used them to create a double walled internal splint.
A further rummage had come up with a plumbing compression joint that I thought would neatly strengthen the outside but at 22mm bore it was just a bit too big so I wrapped the joint in duct tape and headed out for the first of the flood at evening Low to see if the repair would hold.
Nothing for me but Mehmet had an Eel
This morning's chores were done just in time to pick Mehmet up and head to Colwyn Bay for High in the hope of Mackerel.
Despite the rain it was solid combat fishing from The Arches all the way to the rock armour, didn't notice anything being pulled in though so rather than force our way in and inevitably tangle we headed for Cayley Bank.
Enough assorted boats for a regatta and even a jet fly by as we made the most of fishing from the prom shelter.
A glance over the rail and behold at our feet it was whitebait soup, mostly 2 inch fry, billions of them within 6 feet of the wall mixed in with a few 4 inch Sandeel
Couldn't get a good photo to show just how dense it was with them, only the ones catching the light show up
Unfortunately for us they all looked far too relaxed with no sign they were being chased,
An hour after High we gave up.
Driving back along the prom it was still rammed and we saw couple of danglers who had fish to hold.
