Venue - Kinmel Bay
Tide - High
Time - Day/Night
Bait: Fresh Lug

3 hrs out of the fast lane was my antedote to beat the winter blues.
I hadn’t fished Kinmel Bay for what seems like ages, so the plan was to re-acquaint myself with an old friend.

The first thing of note on arrival was the wind!
Strong and from the west.

I set up 2 rods. My 12ft Abu Enticer and the Berkley Cherrywood spinning rod.

3-hook and 2-hook flappers were baited with Fresh Lug and cast out.
I had a 6oz gripper on the beachcaster and 3oz was as big as I dared go with the lighter setup.

My beachaster was holding out there, but the 3oz weight on the spinning rod was getting washed about in the lively surf.

First retrieve on the Cherrywood resulted in a small Whiting.

Time to check the other rod.
2 more Whiting!!
A great start

Another Whiting followed on the next cast.
It went quiet for the next hour.

Another double header arrived on at range.

Darkness was now upon me.

Thoughts that the fishing would pick up with the disappearing light were not justified.

With only a lone Rockling to show for the next hour.

My bait was running low and the westerly was now carring horizontal rain with it.

A nice little session had come to an end.

Happy Days!!!!

I've spent enough hours on that beach blanking to appreciate anything that comes along Smile

As for the traps, not that it was the venue for it, I have lived and learn't.
It's pleasure angling for me Smile Smile

Question One, " how many zillion whiting are there along the coast at the moment?

Question Two, can anybody tell me how to get the tune "Red light spells danger" out of my head?
It' won't go away

Great report Mike

I was fishing by the 'Yellow House' James.

I've not tried by Sunnyvale in the Winter before.

Paul, if all my report has done is put that tune in your head, then it is a job well done Very Happy

I missed 'The Ocean' when he was in Rhyl last month. I'm regretting it now!

A classic Smile Smile Smile
