PostSubject: Lilly Pond 19/06/2015   Sat Jun 20, 2015 12:02 pm

After a Fantastic and Exhausting 3 days at Sea (1 days work 2 days fishing) aboard My Way, I was dragged out by 2 mates to have a bash at the Lilly Pond. Fortunately the mark we were after was free, so we got stuck straight in. Nathan and I were fishing light for Pollock and Wrasse and Pete was fishing big baits further out. I used my fly rod and a 2-10g stick, micro-spin reel and Ragworm and very small hooks and we were catching from the off. Pete was catching Whiting, Dogs, Dabs, Pollock, Shore Rockling, Ballan at distance and Nathan and I were catching Ballans, Corkwing, Long Spined Sea Scorpion, Pour Cod and small Pollock close in. The plan was to fish late and have big baits out, but around 10pm the weather turned and started raining and it was pretty unpleasant, so reluctantly we called it a night. Great fishing during the afternoon and late evening and we were hoping for better things, but sadly you can't control the weather. A good few hours out in great company and cannot wait to get over there again. Peace

Easy way is 4ft 8lb line from fly line then a simple single flapper,, 1 short hook length, small hooks and light leads. Peel off some line and under arm lob, feed the line out til u feel the bottom and bobs ur uncle....u can also use fast sinking lines to cast and retrieve for Pollock, Garfish, Mack, Bass etc. Well worth having a go. Very Happy
