they wont get under the cycle bridge

The bridge opens 'Gull-like' from the centre stanchion.
A call on your VHF radio to the CCTV operators will have it open for you.
From closed to open takes 2 minutes.

Why?
mike you ask why . why cant they just build the cycle track along side the existing road bridge.there is no need to spend 4 million pound on a bridge across the harbour that no boat owner or user wants.it will hamper access in and out of the harbour .this bridge i quote the fella that designed it will be operated from central cctv office in rhyl by somebody holding a vhf radio not actually standing anywhere near the bridge when it is being opened and closed.every time a bridge has been built across the river clwyd it has killed that stretch of river for boat or ship users for example the stone bridge at rhuddlan .the railway bridge the blue road bridge all areas uptide of these bridges used to have boats and ships working there .there is another problem that could happen if the bridge is built what happens to the boats if they are out at sea and coming into rhyl on a falling ebb tide and the bridge wont open where do we go then ? atleast at the present time we can get to our moorings.last but not least who is going to pay for the upkeep of this bridge? bet it wont be the cyclists or the dog users who will probably throw their bags of dog crap from it ,but i bet eventually it will be the harbour users and we dont want the bridge

Mad Mad that will not happen the Rhyl yacht club Rhyl fishermans association and Rhyl charter skippers association like tony has said are not apossed to a bridge so long as it is not across the harbour entrance ,they can just run it parrallel on the north side of the blue road bridge ,people say this is a listed building so it doesnt have to be attached it can be free standing away from it just like they have done with the stone bridge in Rhuddlan .The biggest plus in doing it this way it would save millions of pounds that could be spent elsewhere in the town cheers cheers cheers

Your last point Steve is valid, to spend money on a bridge when you already have one is pointless, and as you say spend the money where its needed.

Anyone commuting by bike would probably prefer a route adjacent to the blue bridge.

If a "pleasure route" pedestrian and cycle way across the harbour to Horton's nose is considered so vital why not just have a good old fashioned ferryman, it wouldn't need much of a boat, low carbon footprint, minimal cost, could be up and running pretty quickly, no slower than waiting for the bridge to open/close, provides employment, wouldn't block navigation and it could tie in with the terminus of the land train.

It would be kinda quaint too -which would be good for tourism.

If it turned out there was no demand for a ferry it would show there's no need for a white elephant crossing either
