After last nights species masterclass from Rhys, I decided I would raid the freezer and have a go at the Point again tonight, fishing 2 rods to see if I could get a slug before they disappear for the summer.
I fished 2 rods with mixtures of frozen lug, razor and a couple of crab.
Things didn’t start too well, with a small Flounder falling off when the weight got stuck in the rocks.
Not to worry though, as next cast I had a double header of a Dab and another small Flounder.
As was the case last night, I struggled to get through the Dabs. Even though I tried fishing close in for a Rockling, I was still picking Dabs up within a few yards of the rocks.
Time was ticking on, but with plenty of bait left I decided I was staying until I had my slug, even if that meant fishing well into the ebb.
Then, a good knock at medium range paid off when I reeled in this wonderful slug for the hunt!
Mission complete, I packed up for booze and medals.
Final tally was 2 Flounders, 5 Dabs and the slug.
Happy Days!
