Hafan y Mor. Pwllheli

Friday morning I'm driving to work and the phone rings to say friends were unable to take up a weekend booking for Hafan y Mor 3 miles from  Pwllheli and would we like it instead?

http://www.haven.com/parks/north-wales/hafan-y-mor/

Never been there before but the essentials were quickly packed, tea, coffee, rods and we were off that evening, it's about an hour and 15 from Rhyl traffic permitting

Plenty of on site entertainment for kids and dog's are allowed in some of the accommodation and in fact it seemed quite a lot of dogs were on site

Although once you've used your free 15 minutes WIFI it will cost you £7 a day.

There's a variety of types of accommodation; caravans, log cabins and apartments, some are cliff top, others more of a stroll.

The beach is on the Wales Coastal Path and it's coves offer a choice of sandy beach, shingle or rock marks with deeper water, the curving coast line means you can choose a spot to get out of the wind and there are some stunning views and the possibility of spotting Dolphins.

On the Pwllheli side

Sunday it rained so much we quite literally had ducks sheltering on the verandah but we'd managed a couple of hours on Saturday offering lug on light gear and 2oz leads on the flood,

Unfortunately  nothing to report but I'm sure there will be Bass about on this coast and it would be worth spinning.

No idea what it holds but there's a pegged coarse lake on site ( no charge I think) and the Heron thought it worth a visit!

There's a tackle shop 3 miles away in Pwllheli and it's not a bad base for visiting Criccieth, Porthmadog, Abersoch ( very busy and competitive parking and wearing designer labels is mandatory)
or just outside Abersoch you'll find pretty Llanbedrog beach pictured below ( parking £4  or free to National Trust members)

(Bye law 27 requires outfits to be matched to a beach hut)
