PostSubject: Tuna at Tan Lan    Tuna at Tan Lan EmptySun Mar 29, 2015 6:27 pm

Venue  Tan Lan
Bait Frozen Lug
Tide Low
Rigs Wishbone
and a two up one down flapper
Tide Height 2.11m
Time 13.00 - 14.30

During a conversation this morning with Stevo a challenge was made between us, who could catch the most species, me at Tan Lan or Stevo on the Manchester canal Exclamation

With all the rain we've had recently and this mornings deluge I was very doubtful of catching anything but as Tim always says "PMA Logger you must have PMA" Exclamation
With Tims words of wisdom rattling around my head I set off full of Positive Mental Attitude determined to win at all costs Cool

The wind was terrible and at times it was hard to catch your breath, no one else was fishing but i'm made of hardier stuff and battled on Very Happy

My first cast came back empty as did the second but i'd just heard from Stevo that he was doing no better Very Happy
With the wind on my back I made my third cast but closer in this time.....

RESULT cheers

A double header of Tuna and Pilchard  cheers

These were caught on the wishbone rig which is very underrated and is an excellent rig when combined with a few beads Wink

After this I switched to the three hooked rig to further improve my chances pirat
A few casts later brought me a treble header and a third species to win the challenge cheers cheers cheers cheers

Bet no one has caught Tuna, Pilchard and Sardine all at the same time Exclamation Exclamation
Not from Tan Lan at least and certainly not on Frozen Lug  Shocked

As Tim says "PMA" Exclamation

Unfortunately all were under size so had to go back Sad

I remember stories of a small Tuna caught in a net at Rhos Poiont a good few years ago.

There were also a couple in nets around the mouth of the river Conwy the same year.

Shame im not running the species hunt anymore, you`d be off to a flier!
