As anyone got a favourite rig

My favourite shore rig is a pulley pennel even though I catch
more fish on a 2 hook flapper with the pulley pennel
you can put a big bait on and clipped down cast's a long way
I always enjoy using it. Very Happy

My favourite boat rig is a Booby bead and Muppet trace with a 5/0 hook
caught some good fish with this rig. Very Happy

Hi mate I like to use a pulley dropper(or a variation of) it's a great bass/ cod rig and gets out a long way but for scratching and general fishing the two hook flapper takes some beating

From the beach a pulley rig, single Sakuma hook unless the worms are big or frozen with an imp release is my preference

From the shore I like to keep it simple (like me) with a one up one down so there's a bait pinned to the sea bed and one floating a few inches above then I feel I've covered all angles and as I never target any particular fish in general this suits my laid back devil may care approach, maybe a few beads thrown in for good measure here and there depending on the venue Cool

I used to mess about with clipped down rigs but they can be fiddly and how much distance do you really gain  Question
Besides which the fish are quite often close in anyway  Exclamation

From the boat is different, 5hrs macky bashing it's the usual feathers and they change preference from one trip to the next depending on what the fish fancy or can see so I always take a few different ones and even then you can bait the hooks with a little lug to attract the flatty's then once I've had enough of those I like a Pennal attached to a swivel just above the link that holds the lead with 4 or 5/0's on a 3ft trace going through a boom so you know it's on the bottom with just enough line to let it waft around a little Very Happy

For small stuff its the Portsmouth loop rig or baited shrimps.

I tend to go for some sort of pulley arrangment for the bigger species on the rare occasions i target them.

When fishing Mostyn started off with pulley rig well baited and got flatties, turned to flattie rig with Loggers repellent beads and caught the cod on small hook, and that was on the top hook. Very Happy Very Happy

It`s nearly always the 3 hook flapper for me, usually with size 2 kamasans, I`ve lost so much fishing time in the past with clipped down rigs coming back in with the hooks still clipped down. I`ve had some good fish on those little hooks, including rays, huss and codling and bass. I`ll go up to the bigger hooks for bass with large crab baits when necessary though.

Has anyone tried the lynx rigs yet? I like the pennel pulley with nice big bait. Fish generally self hook on most occasions when they are about. Recently been using the 2 hook flapper, which has saved a few blanks on last few sessions. fishing

I'll always clip a rig down if a decent cast
Is required.....not for extra distance but just
To make sure the bait Is in good condition when
It reaches the bottom......2 hook flapper is my fave tho.

I used to use all the fancy clipped down rigs I used to tie ,and mastered the pendulum cast , but to be honest never use any anymore than just a standard two hook flapper , good fresh bait is the key for me , and would never go without digging my own first unless fishing for dabs cheers

down bit's of bait fly off the hook were as clipped down the bait

Fishy baits such as Mackerel can be bad for flying off which is why I only use the belly meat and keep the rest for myself or the family pets then I feel I've got the most out of the fish Very Happy
