PostSubject: Conwy estuary last night   Sun Jan 11, 2015 3:40 pm

13 of us turned up for our first match of the year, fishing down the ebb in the estuary. Despite the force 7 to 8 Westerly we all found a bit of shelter at various spots on the Conwy side. We all set up with big baits expecting the run of good-sized codling to still be in evidence, however after a couple of hours it became obvious that the fresh water coming down the river had seen them off. Scratching rigs became the next tactic, looking for flounders and rockling, no-one expected these though, on a cold January night with hail and sleet!

This one was my first, followed by two little bootlace rig wreckers, in all the total bag for the 8 who weighed in was : 8 eels, 3 flounders and a rockling. I just scraped in 4th with mine, the winner had 2 flounders and an eel.
