For those of you who have often thought
About catching a shark but don't want to
Travel to Florida or Australia then look
One further. On the 19th September 2015
I have 3 places booked aboard suveran 2 with
Simon to go and try to catch a porbeagle shark
Their are 5 individual places left on the boat so
If you do fancy having ago and joining me
In this shark quest book yourself on for what
Could be a sunnyrhyl first or second shark trip  Very Happy   number is 01745332766(Jensen sea angling)

The trip will be for 12hrs sailing at 4:45am
And will cost £70 per person
And you will have to bring your own tackle
Ie:- 50lb class rod 1000 size multiplier or something
Big with 60lb line/braid shark traces

It's not guaranteed that we will catch one but imagine
If we did(and you can always do a bit of wrecking if you get bored) Very Happy

You never know guys we might need a bigger boat Very Happy Very Happy

Geoff Taylor of Prestatyn Sailing Club
Has a big game reel for sale at £150 on Facebook today

In the group "beach and boat tackle for sale or swap"

It's a 2 speed Mann 50w

Looks big enough to pull a supertanker in

Well, we used them nearly 40 years ago, so there, but he's actually caught shark,so I'll let him have that one.
Going back to the trip. I don't think I could do a 12HR anymore, I'd probably end up asleep in the cabin (ask Steve Andrews)  Sleep  Sleep  Embarassed

This is from my old report off Mikes' Sunny Rhyl site.

“We decided the make up a “rubby dubby”. Dick Elliot was fisheries manager for the C E G B at the time, in charge of Trawsfynnydd and Tan y Grisiau. They bred there own trout stocks at Trawsfynnydd and occasionally there would be problems with the stew ponds and the aerators would fail, they could lose hundreds of fish. Normally they would incinerate them or sell them for fish meal. Dick donated 5 bin bags full to the group. Among them were some decent size fish, so we kept them as hook bait (I can now boast to anybody who’s caught a Rainbow trout less than 9 ½ lbs that I’ve used bigger for bait). We bought a heavy duty mincer, the type butchers use, a couple of gallon of fish oil, a sack of bran, some strong onion sacks, any old bait we had , a couple of gallon ox blood and some offal from the local butcher. Then we set about making the most evil brew concocted.”

You need the bran to soak up all the oils, otherwise  the rubby dubby bags will wash out fairly quickly. We had about the equivalent of 20 gall of mix. One rubby dubby sack tied to the anchor and a couple on the tideline of the boat. The anchor was bouyed, so if a big fish was hooked it could be disconnected quickly to follow the fish. If you're lucky and tide and wind are favourable, you can drift along with the rubby dubby slick. We also occasionally threw scoopfuls of the
rubby dubby into the sea. But we still didn't catch a bloody shark Mad Mad Mad
