25 anglers fished our clubs fur and feather match at Colwyn Bay last night.
The match was fished between Rhos point and Tan Lan headland, with the majority of us heading past the end of the prom, back towards Penmaen head. ( Under the old 70 degrees )
The match winner fished close to the headland and weighed in 20 Whiting to win by over 1.5 kilos.
Second was a bag of 13 Whiting and 2 Dabs, and 17 Whiting took third place.
There were a couple of nice Dabs caught, both 12 ounces each, to tie for the flatfish pool, and the heaviest round fish was a Whiting of just under a pound.
I was 12th with 7 Whiting and a Dab, not bad considering i havent had the rods out since September!
If anyone plans to fish this venue, we find that low water gives better results than fishing over high, and you dont have to contend with reeling in over the new stone sea defences.
The beach changes every year, but it seems there is sand all the way along this stretch now at low water, meaning tackle losses are minimal, and the fishing is comfortable.
Happy days!
