I wouldn't bother with Splash Point.

Attatched to the 2 groins to the east of Splash Point. Extending seaward across the bank.

These nets had been set and lay out awaiting the tide for hours today. It's hardly 'cover of darkness' stuff.

If you want to enquire as to the legality of these nets, a phonecall to the Environment Agency on 0800807060 may clear things up.

It's quite likely that these nets are responsible for that double figure Huss found at Splash Point last week.

There was also a dead Smoothound rotting away down there too.

a 10lb salmon was washed up in colwyn bay this week not a mark on it apart from some bleeding around the gills looked like it had been stuck in a net

I've been told the netter lives on Garford Road, ie close by.

I don't have any firm info on this though.

Here are some useful numbers if anyone feels the urge.

North Wales fisheries officer
Phil Capper ...........................07920134249
This number is only to be used between the hours of 9 am until 5 pm

Environment Agency number ..............0800 80 70 60

It may also be worth contacting the local council to tell them the nets are attached to the groynes, and the netter is leaving dead fish on the beach. Anything thats likely to scare the tourists away might spur them into action?

I havent been down myself, but apparently the guys mobile number is on the buoy of each net, along with the words KEEP OFF.
