| Wednesday Evening, Aberystwyth Stone JettyAn offshore wind, half a dozen float fishing for garfish and before long about twenty thrashing the water for mackerel. I joined the latter, No fish for anyone! Thursday evening ,Now an onshore wind, half a dozen float fishing for gar’ and about twenty thrashing the water for mackerel. This time I joined the former, Still no fish for anyone! After dark I settled into a pint of Creamflow and watched the hound dogs playing at North Beach from the bar. (there was nothing on the telly!) Nothing for it then, back to Sunny Rhyl…
Saturday evening, where did Summer go? found this at Splash, anybody recognise the writing? Maestro turned up. A strong easterly wind, a fair bit of weed, but fishable Looks promising,

| Good to see a fish for your efforts. I'm assuming The Maestro blanked again?
Did you manage to blag some fresh worms from Ian or did the lure of The New Pines hospitality suite mean reliance on more conventional methods? |

I left The Maestro to it Mike, he promised to text me if he caught (I'm still waiting!) Began the session with Geoff's fresh lug, then I had a mysterious phonecall from someone with a scouse accent saying they'd be back with a pump in 10 minutes (I'm still waiting!) Elvis fell to one of the Maestro's sawdust coated worms! |

I'm sure you are right Kev, lots of tackle grabbing big rocks at the base of the jetty, clearer ground further out. Gave it a few goes with small scraps of rag or sandeel on small hooks dropped into the rocks but just lost sinkers for my trouble, bit surprised no minis showed. Floats could be the better option. The Stone Jetty is found by turning down the side of the fire station (not the road marked "Marina") Slug-go s have been proving effective on Bass and Pollack off the reefs at Low apparently, will have to try one, but the reefs look a bit ankle breaking to me. -it's the best part of a 3 hour drive from Rhyl though -and believe me the novelty has worn off! |

| We went down there once to fish an Open when i was a kid, but it was too rough when we got there.
I can think of dozens of better places that are a lot closer to home but i understand its rude not to wet a line if youre there anyway. |

Looks like the work of The Spaceman! Mysteriously there were no footprints around it ...Rhyl's answer to crop circles? Spaceman indeed. Up and at a.m. Sunday back to Splash 6 this morning, wind a touch more northerly than Saturday evening. Hoped to find a lead I lost yesterday -didn't -lost another one, also lost the tip ring liner thanks to the weed, no fish, just a lump of sea coal for my efforts ( what did Mike say about Prestatyn being on fire?) Didn't exactly light my fire, but nice to be out and about early. |
