Think that is only for jelly fish stings ( though the internet pours cold water on that theory ) http://firstaid.about.com/od/bitesstings/f/07_JellyfishPee.htm http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/fact-or-fiction-urinating/ http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Stings-marine-creatures/Pages/Treatment.aspx |

| The old method, before hot water was found to work, was a sharp knife and slice open where the fish got you and squeeze it all out. My dad has a funny story with that after sitting on one. Having been stung many times and seen plenty get stung too, it seems that it depends on the persons reaction to the poison. Personally I find its not too bad, the cute is by far more painful than the sting but I have seen plenty of people in large amounts of pain and even seen someone's arm swell up very badly. The boiling water on the sting actually caused the whole arm inflation to go though. Once spent a few minutes having to convince someone that he didn't have to worry because the sting won't lead to death or even a trip a trip to the hospital and he'll be ok to fish for the rest of the day. It wasn't even him that got stung, it was me. |

Please tell me it doesn't involve sucking the poison out! |

| Depends on how alergic you are to the venom.
Have seen people with arms swelling up and turning blue after brushing the gill spikes, while another time i saw an old boy with a shrimping net picking them out with his bare hands. When i asked him if that wasnt a little dangerous he said he had been stung hundreds of times and the venom didnt have any affect on him!
Im not going to grab one just to find out thought! |
