out from holy head with billy

went out with billy on his boat tight line friday. the plan was to have a go at the smooth hounds out from holy head and to try for a pollack or two around the break water

once we set the anchor the dog fish came out to feed and were taking the crab baits before the smooth ies got a chance.after 3 or 4 dogs billy had his first one over the side around the 5lb mark

then in between the dogs i had a codling at 1lb 8ozs

next in was billy again with a smaller one.

we had plenty more dogs but alas no smooth hound for me.    
on the way back we drifted over the rough ground by the breakwater and i did manage a little pollack
one and a half pound as a consolation prize but what a great day out with sun all day and a good skipper
to chat to as always and some thing to go with the chips

Never dare peer over the outside wall myself, must be all sorts lurking in those rocks

Well done getting out there & catching my last two attempts to get out down there with gethyn have been off due to weather hopefully when we eventually manage to get out there'll be smoothies to come
