Shell island may 2014 part 1

Arrived at shell island fri afternoon on a lovely day and empty fields .soon got tent up and chilled out ..my sat plan was just to see what happens when I wake up ,because it gave out such pants weather ..was woke up early hours it was windy as hell and the rain was lashing down .. Sea was rough as so the only thing I could do was have a mooochhh around for some peeler and fish the estury behind me .. Found about twenty female softies and peeler so was happy but it was tuff going finding them .. There was loads of silver eels under the rocks ,ranging from elvers to eels a good foot our so ,nice to see them making a big come back ..the tide was a bit to small and not enough water in the gullies but it was better than sitting in a tent all day .. Long story short it was a blank ....here some pics for you .. Little tip the blow lug is pants and I mean pants very very small if you dig them of the beach ,good for flatties ,but for bass you would have to get loads to make up a good size bait ..dig them in the estury ,but dig them by the gullies .. Have look round you will find the big blacker ones with much more blood and juices in them .because if you don't dig them by the gullies ,you also here will only get a very small stamp of worm ..



This is the place where I've seen loads of holiday makers over the years who just chuck spinners in for fun catch loads of schoolies ..just before the harbour ..

There you go day one big blank time for some vodka and some good old fashioned camping grub...

Day two .....
Weather still pants was struggling to pull myself out my tent .. Made my self a little friend ,not sure if he's a bull finch our a chaffinch ,not to clued up on birds, well not the featherd type lol ....

Dug some lug then had two hour session at low water left of the estury mouth ,low water mark very good here for schoolies and flatties .. And high water and ebb here very good for popping over the rough ground ..
Long story short had two hour session with lug on flooding tide not a touch .sea bit to rough .Some pics for you ..





Time to have some dinner and get ready for a good high water mark I know here ..part two to follow shortly ,it does get a bit better lol .

Well done for effort so disappointing when you make the planes and things don't work out. Got some good pictures and it is a Chaffinch.
