Saturday evening I rang Miike - phone was off the hook , pm'd him -no response. hammered on his door -the telly was turned up loud but no one was home...

Crossed the gullies for a three hour session starting just before Low and found a few familiar faces taking refuge from X factor. Mehmet was already 2 whiting to the good but it was a long wait between his next -a rockling, followed by another whiting,




I caught several huge nowt, returned them all to fight another day.

Been 3 weeks since I fished my local beach, interesting to see the changes in the gullies -the
depth and speed of filling of the middle one took the holes in my waders by surprise, yer right James -and the water is surprisingly warm (fortunately!)

( I don't know if A. Burke is a good name for an X Factor winner, but it sums up my fishing performance )

Warm or not, the feeling of water on knees is not for me on a Saturday night
