| As for rigs using a one up one down is a fairly safe bet then your fishing the bottom and just off it, use longer snoods than you would from the shore too unless there's a few of you as tangles can get annoying ! Hook size depends on what your after.
Feathers are a must and all you do is attach a 6oz wieght then lower it steadily to the bottom and hopefully you will find the fish on the way down and if not just wind it back up whilst jigging it all the way putting some life into it (dont be shy of making your rod work either when doing this). Once you've found the fish dont retrieve to fast, let others find a hook too ! Your carp gear should do to get started with a good wash down afterwards but if your planning to take regular trips then sea tackle would be best of course. Hope this helps good luck Dave. |

| Depth etc depends where you are fishing. Some other factors - tide strength, amount of lead you need to hold bottom, target species. You can fish with quite light gear and a few oz of weight if close in off Rhyl. Only a few meters. If on a charter trip, you can usually hire gear on the boat if yours is not up to the job on the day. Personally I would try a trip before I invested in any gear. Make sure you both have sea legs. We had a discussion on boat rods a while ago .. https://sunnyrhyl.forumotion.com/t4903-can-one-boat-rod-do-it-allHope this helps. |
