Project Notbad update nine,
OK so its approaching a year since she was bought, stripped, re-built with Bass in mind, she's still to get wet, but I'm pretty well there now.
The outboard wasn't the easiest to pull start, wouldn't hold a low tickover and stopped after a little while. I sourced the correct plugs, changed the fuel connection ( perished O-ring ) and generally fiddled about but came to the conclusion that it was one for the experts and dropped it in at M.E.S Marine for a proper service.
What I took to be the carburettor needing re-setting turned out to be a failing fuel pump and with this replaced and a couple of other bits fettled by M.E.S. the engine is starting easily, humming sweetly, holds a low speed idle and now pumps water very well.
Just in case....I've stowed a couple of lightweight oars and moved the rowlocks to the correct position for where the seats are now.
Checking the electrics over I was relieved to find they've come through the winter unscathed.
I've a couple more rod holders to fit but there's no much holding me back from sea trials now!
I've never towed anything in my life so that could be a trial in itself
- one slight problem -no towbar, however my new car has just arrived -complete with a hidden viagra powered towbar which deploys at the touch of a button
to misquote the old advert, "vorsprung dork technik" you might say!
not sure what's rudest, the way it erects or the way it tucks itself up and under!
Here's a Youtube video of the towbar in motion!
