Fished the beach at Dunbeath again tonight 3 hours before high tide to an hour before high at the end of the harbour.
I was going to stay and fish the ebb for an hour but the conditions were worsening all the time and aswell as struggling to hold bottom with a 6oz gripper i felt that at any moment i was going to be swept of the harbour itself even though i had a sturdy wall behind me for shelter it really didnt feel safe so after two hours i gave the sea the respect it was demanding and cleared of to the pub
However during those two hours i managed to land three codling the best being only a pound at the most and a small coalfish and losing another two fish in the surf as i retrieved them up the wall, cant say what they were but only little things !
This was a double first for me as ive never had a codling before or a coalfish
Plus i proved the locals wrong as they said you wont catch anything down there
They've obviously never come up against one of the sunny rhyl mob before
Mind you went last night and all i had was a crab, same the weekend before too
If at first you dont succeed an all that
I'll add some photos when home later this week
