Hi mate had some good fun camping and fishing there over the years with my family mate . There a camping shop on the island that sell terminal tackle and bait . You can dig blow lug of the beach but they tend to be small , you better of digging in the estury there some bigger ones there mate. It can be very windy at shell we have had a trailer tent wrote of there in high winds . But if the weather nice it's my fav place in the uk cheers if the surf is big you will struggle with a spinning rod, but if it's small u will be ok .i had plenty scoolie bass there standing in the surf flicking out a lugworm on a 1 once lead on a spinning rod it's good fun fish low water on the flood there for the bass. I had bass there on popper lures ,and this is the best time of year to do it fish the flooding tide over the rough ground when it's calm .plus if you have a look round the estury you might still get some peller crab fish. This bait in the estury and you will get bass and flounder good luck and let me now how you get on , it's the first year we havent camped there because the summer not been 2 good . Ps there are two fishing shops in Barmouth . Have a good un

Dont know wether its a high or low tide mark but my advice would be to try low for an hour either side and make a study the beach as it floods then fish it over high an hour either side again trying small baits such as razor fish or mussel but definatly lug fresh or frozen using size 2 hooks then you stand a good chance of catching something instead of just going for a biggy and you stand more chance in the dark and with the nights pulling in you should be able to fish and have time for a glass of something after depending on the tides of course lol
And dont forget to put a report on even if you blank ! We all love a blanker on here lol

Depending on the age of your son - crab lining in the little harbour area at the top of the island is productive.

Look for a camping spot with some shelter from the wind. We enjoy camping there, but if it is windy it is exposed.
