First things first. Must buy a camera so I can down load pics.

Went to Mevagissey on Friday night for a spot of feathering off the inner breakwater.
High tide was 9.05pm.
Got there at 7, caught nothing till 8.30.
Unbelievable. 8.30 came, so did the mackeral.
Caught 42 by 9 o'clock, so went home happy. Filled the freezer and next doors aswell.

Went Sunday morning aswell.
Started fishing 2 hrs before high until 20mins after.
Caught 23 pollack on the feathers upto approx 1.5lbs, but no mackeral.

Friday night was a strong onshore, whereas Sunday was flat calm. I presume this was the reason for the mackeral catches Friday and Pollack catches on Sunday. If anyone has any thoughts on the idea, please let me know.

Went to Pentewen beach lure fishing last night, blanked.

Going to Mevagissey over the weekend again, will do a report next week.

Hi Mike.
Fishings unbelievable here, plus the waters crystal clear.
Fishing in 18ft of water at Mevagissey, and you can see the crabs running along the bottom.
Watched Bass and Mackeral striking shoals of sandeels of the rocks at Pentewen aswell, literally 12 foot out in about 8ft of water. (had no rod, typical).

Must be something about the Southwest, but the fishing is fantastic.
You can catch most species given the right marks and tides.
10lb Bass come of our local beaches regularly (not to me yet though).
You'll often see sandeels scattering just of the beach(easily within casting range), and a mass explosion of mackeral chasing em.

Best move I've ever made leaving the potteries for Cornwall.
If anyone is coming here on holiday, let me know and bring a rod.
I just use a bass rod for mackeral, pollack and bass.
12lb line, 3 feathers great fun.
Leave the beach casters at home and bring a carp rod instead.

Alsager mate, born and bred.
Lived here in cornwall between 2000-2005, but we moved back so wife could do her nurse training at the north staffs.
Couldn't wait to come back, totally different life down here.
Joined this forum because the in-laws had a caravan on the robin hood campsite, so used to fish Rhyl quite a bit.

Everyone says I'm lucky. If you have a dream, do what we did and go for it. Great schools for the kids, low crime rate and great beaches.
I used to fish Madeley pool years ago, the one by the main road that was free to fish. Never caught much, nice pool though.
