Went to the island yesterday, after dads taxi duties had finished got there
a bit later than hoped for at 5, an hour after high, had a look at cable bay
on the way but looked a bit too rough so headed up to rhoscolyn.
Got myself set up with a flapper on one and a pulley on the other and
as expected the dogs were at it from the off with a few whiting thrown
in, after an hour though had a nice little rattle and had my first spotty of the
year, a small male.
Pullled in a solitary macky on the flapper so set up some feathers, with a
sliver of macky on for extra effect, dragged on the sea bed but just had a couple of small pollock but soon put them away when i hooked two dogs
on it !.
The doggies and whiting carried on but not enough to become annoying
then a couple of hours later had a decent bite which saw a nice fat female
of 3lbs-6 landed, don't usually weigh them because they don't get very
big so a new p.b. i guess
Changed rigs to two big baits after dark, had a cracking bite on a half
mackeral bait that had a pollock of about 4 to 5lbs on, which promptly
fell off at the rock edge.
Shortly after the ratchet goes and a better doggy was landed, a 10lb
one which was unusually well behaved.
Not a lot else showed for the next hour and with the swell getting a bit
naughty called it a day at midnight
