Notice to Fishermen – No.4

Please be advised of marine cable works that are due to commence on 12 August 2011 in the waters off Barkby Beach, Rhyl, north Wales Lat 53 20.651N Long 003 24.093W (Ref KP186) and will continue west in the waters off the north Wales coast to position Lat 53 35.209N Long 004 23.745W (Ref KP113), approximately 10nm north of Amlwch, Anglesey.

The cable installation barge NOSTAG 10 and support vessel MV MAX have been assigned to carry out route clearance PLGR (Pre-Lay Grapnel Run), seabed preparation works and shore end cable lay operations in the inshore waters off Barkby Beach, Rhyl, north Wales from beach landfall position Lat 53 20.651N Long 003 24.093W (Ref KP186) out north-west along the EirGrid East West Interconnector power cable route to position Lat 53 24.118N Long 003 39.814W (Ref KP157) at approximately 30m water depth. (See overview charts and route position list attached).

An additional support vessel, MV PRIDE OF FIRTH, is due to commence offshore route clearance PLGR operations along the EirGrid EWIC cable route from position Lat 53 24.118N Long 003 39.814W (Ref KP157) to Lat 53 35.209N Long 004 23.745W (Ref KP113) on 15 August 2011. These marine operations will take place prior to the main lay cable operations along this section of the route that are currently due to commence on 3 September 2011.

Fishermen are advised not to leave any static fishing equipment within a distance of 1000 metres of the EirGrid EWIC cable route. All Skippers are respectfully asked to withdraw and keep beyond a distance of at least 1 nautical mile from all cable vessels associated with these marine operations as they will be operating with towed bottom contact equipment and will also have restricted manoeuverability.

If you believe that you are likely to be affected by these marine operations and require any further information then please contact:
