Unable to join Joe,Kev and Mall at the monthly mud fetish meet on saturday, i went to the west of the island instead yesterday for a crack at the rays.
The small tides weren't the best but i thought i'd take advantage of the nice weather and chuck anyway.
Arrived at the mark and set up two rods, a flapper with rag, lug, maccy, razor and a pulley with sandeel for the rays.
Had a lot of small codling, they've taken over from pin whiting, and the ever present doggies at this time of year.

Two hours before high the rod tip shuddered then arced over, pulled into it and got a good bend in the rod, felt a good fish and i wasn't disappointed,
a good thorny of 9lb-7 was landed, a pound heavier than my p.b.
Stayed for a few hours into dark but nothing else showed except dogs and micro cod. Went home a happy chap !!
