Five juniors fished the first leg of the 2011 winter league at Colwyn Bay prom on Saturday.

The weather was chilly and the fishing was poor so Im glad I spent the evening in work and got Terry to run this one for me. Thanks Dad!
High water at the hump should have produced fish for everyone, as it has in previous years but maybe the frosty conditions had put the slugs off venturing close in alongside the groynes.
Joe from Jokers tackle of Greenfield Road in Colwyn Bay came down at the start of the match with several complimentary packets of fresh lug for the lads to use. He also presented the rod and reel he had very kindly donated for the winner of the summer league 2010 Jack Peters.
Other prizes which were very kindly donated went to the other participants in last years summer league.
An Okuma fixed spool reel which was donated by Dogger ( Phill ) was presented to Thomas Davies for second in the league.
Stephen Higginson received a multiplier reel donated by Alan James for his third place and Thomas Jones received a rod bag also kindly donated by Alan James for his fourth placed finish.
Back to the match….after 3 hours fishing, Stephen Higginson took the honours with 2 Rockling for 44cms.
Unfortunately, everyone else blanked, but after the first place prize was paid out, the remainder of the money was shared between the other 4 lads.
Once again, many thanks to Joe for the bait and all the prizes he donated for all the matches. Great support for the kids!!! The other prizes you brought will be shared out at the next match.
Also many thanks to Phill and Alan James for their kind donations which certainly gave the kids something to smile about.
The next and final match will be at Rhyl Foryd on Sunday 10th April fishing 14-00 until 17-00.
