Had a pass out last night and with the calm sea and recent reports of rays off the island i thought i'd have a go and see if they were
still about, set off with maccy, sandeel and some worm and arrived at low to a calm but cold mark.
Fished 2 rods, both up and over rigs, lots of nibbles but the 4/0's a bit too big so changed one rod to a flapper with smaller hooks
and started pulling in whiting and the odd pout.
Had a good pulldown on the big bait, a nice thornie landed.
Carried on with the same setup, the whiting keeping me busy (and warm !!). I was baiting up the big hook when the rod with the flapper
started bouncing away, struck and fish on, and it felt like a good 'un, until they broke the surface, 2 for the price of 1.
Gave it until after high but no more rays showed, just whiting and the solitary dog, a decent session for January, with the best possible company.
