A full-on Northerly greeted me at Kinmel Bay.
A great surf was rolling in.
The big question would be 'Is it fishable?'

A 6oz gripper was the biggest weight I had.
A wind restricted cast got my Lug laden 3 hook flapper out there - just!

It wasn't long before my rig was heading East-bound along the shoreline.
I was not able to keep it out there.
3 casts led to the same result.

Great to be out in the fresh air.

In a sharp contrast to my last visit here. Today it was a Millpond situation.

With such calm conditions, my spinning rod was setup in addition to the beachcaster.
Fresh Lug on both rigs. A 3 hook flapper at distance and a 2 hook flattie rig close in.

An hour into the session and just about on high water a strange thing occured.
Whilst staring at the Cherrywood rod tip, it twitched.
It was a bizarre definate dip downwards followed closely be a recoil upwards.
I was confused!

Having now done some research and spoken to a few people, it is likely that I experienced a once common phenomenum referred to as a 'bite'.

I stuck it out for another hour but ended the session with nothing to report apart from the 'bite'.

Bait: Fresh Lug, Frozen Squid

A very small tide meant that even on high water, there was still 50yds of sand betwen me and the bank.

At my feet was the inner gully, with waves gently breaking 100yds out on the sandbank.

I was casting to the far side of the gully. Fresh Lug tipped with Squid on a 3 hook flapper with size 1's.

A bite just before high had me all excited!
A fair sized Flounder was landed and duly returned.

My final hour was pleasant if uneventful.

Super report again Mike, glad to see things getting back to normal for you.

I won't be able to fish for at least ten weeks.

Went to Wrexham for an operation which should have taken 20 minutes, but ended up being three and a half hours.
