Bait: Fresh Lug, Frozen Lug, Frozen Squid, Frozen Mackerel

Todays event was a RNLI charity fundraising competition.

With over 20 people fishing and just as many organising and facilitating, it was fantastic to catch up with friends old and new.

Yesterday, the winds were battering the North Wales coastline. What a difference a day makes.
Bright sunshine and hardly a breath of wind greeted us as we arrived and cast out.

Bites were instant.
A trio of 3 Bearded Rockling from my first 2 casts got me off the mark.

Close by, The Maestro and Notbad were both into the Rockling.

Next up, the Dabs arrived.

Closely followed by the Whiting.

Both Dabs and Whiting were showing in big numbers. Everyone was catching at a steady rate.

Darkness arrived and it was more of the same.

The fish kept coming right up to the final whistle.

Time up!
I checked my card and it showed 20 fish.

Back at the marshall’s tent, tea, coffee, hot-dogs and stew were being served.

H read the results out.
Logun was the winner with a total length of 680cm.

TIG was 2nd with 490cm and I picked up 3rd prize with 480cm.

It was a fantastic day. The fishing was purely a means of getting us all out there.
There is a strong community of anglers in North Wales. Aided in particular by the revolution that is the internet. Without which, friendly meetings such as this would probably not take place.

I would like to personally thank H, Bev, Shane, Paul and Dee who I believe were the driving force behind this event. I’m sure that there are more people to thank, and I appologise for leaving you off the list.

A great event!!!

Over £200 was raised for the RNLI today.

Thought I ate all the (mince) pies in North Wales this weekend. I certainly tried hard to.

Fantastic weather for the meet. Was stood on the top of the Orme on Saturday morning looking at an unusually calm December sea. Apart from the cold, it looked a better weekend than the camp'n'fish meet in the summer.

...but you steadily overhauled most of us, one more rockling would have sealed a second place for you.

I hear not much was caught on the eastern flank until darkness fell then Logun who was down that end must have been a blur of speedfishing to eventually win by such a margin.

Excellent weather, excellent fishing, excellent company, excellent mince pies and all in a good cause.
