Alex! - Best?

Tide - Low
Time - Night
Bait - Fresh Lug
Date - 23rd October 2010

With the wind in my face and the surf rolling in, it was textbook conditions tonight.

The Alex Gully was the chosen venue. Notbad and The Maestro were several casts ahead of me.
With Flounder, Whiting and a small Codling already accounted for, I was playing catch-up!

The Maestro had a good rattle and managed to land a stonking Flounder. Guessed at 2lb!

Notbad and I got our lines crossed and 'we' reeled in a pin Whiting.
Thankfully, it turned out to be on my hook.
Blank avoided, as if it were ever in doubt!!!

Next cast and a Dab followed. No bigger than the previous Whiting, but another species nonetheless!

My Jensen 1 up 1 down rig was now officially on fire!
And so it continued!
Next up, a decent fish this time!
A fair sized Whiting.

Wormy's hand delivered Fresh Lug was certainly doing the business tonight!
Another cast and another species.....
A small Codling!

Swiftly followed by a brace!

A great session that was made all the more special for the moon making several brief appearances.
Fully concentric and at it's best in full view!
Noted!

I got my blank out of the way early with a first cast codling

and my Flounder wasn't far behind.

Mehmet's flounder would take some beating

But it seemed that most of the fish had waited for Fairziff to arrive,
by George he was on some kind of speed fishing mission tonight,

and the fish mysteriously left when Mike departed
( we should have too, all the following 2 hours produced was loads of weed and a solitary whiting!)

Low is possible without waders ( it didn't do Mike any harm!) but you are a bit limited and in the dark it is especially easy to misjudge Rhyl's fast filling gulleys.
After getting distracted on a rig change I was glad of the guys "wake up" shout and glad I was wearing mine! affraid
