my dad and i went for a last minute trip to the end of holyhead breakwater to try and add to our species list for this year. with the exception of the odd 5-10 mins where it went quiet it was constant fish all day. with just a spinning rod down the side of the wall each we managed to rack up 9 species between us - ballan wrasse, corkwing wrasse, goldsinny, tompot blenny, common blenny (or shanny), pollock, LS sea scorpion, shore rockling and three bearded rockling here's a few pics
we were joined later on by mike (fairziff) and paul (notbad) who were getting similar results, i'm sure a report will follow

I didn't take many pics, 3 rods keep you busy!
When Mike and I left tonight his wrasse was still fish of the day.
Meanwhile the chap in the van was moving into Day 2 and still catching steadily close in on bits of tiger prawn

I bet you all had a great time didnt you. Well done chaps
Amazing how it good it can feel catching a new species for the year, even if it is under 2 ounces!
Ill update the table tomorrow.

Things are hotting up on this years Species Hunt. With lots of the regular stuff already accounted for, a trip up to Holyhead Breakwater for some mini species was called for.
Fishing from your car means you can fish as many rods as you like. Notbad and myself made the most of this opportunity.
Fishing 3 hook Jensen mini-flappers was paying dividends for Tony and Simon. A good selection of species was accounted for. Tony with a Tompot Blenny.
Simon with one of numerous Ballans.
A sneaky little Rock? Goby.
Notbad was busy too. Lots of small Pollock.
I was catching a steady stream of Ballans.
With the odd Corkwing.
Wherever we dropped a line in, we were catching.
A fine days fishing!!!
Happy Days!!!
