I picked up me mate Bill ( a very keen Carp Angler) and off we set for Amwlch, had a great journey along the A5 through Snowdonia in some great weather.
We called at Gareths shop in Menai for some rag and carried on to Amwlch. When we arrived we cold see some people allready on the Breakwater fishing "the corner" but decided to give it a go.
My Mate bill decided to make full use of my trolley (well the space available on it) for his gear as well as mine and I was left to pull it !
When we got the the water the people we saw was a father and son just there for the afternoon and A girl I have seen there a few times (I think her name is Wendy but dont quote me).
As the end was occupied we had no alternative but to fish out to sea, I expected this to be slow as we had arrived pretty much on High Water.
After about 10 minutes the father and son were pulling out small whiting when my rod twitched and twitched again, I reeled in a nice Codling ! this was followed by whiting and doggies, Bill was moaning that I had set him up on the bad peg, so when the Father and son left I moved him to the corner and he was into fish straight away.
Wendy (well I think thats her name) left about 6:30 and that left us with the whole Breakwater (and being able to have a pee!).
I knicked her corner and started to cast across the channel, with the big rods and chucked me float rod out too.
As I was making a coffee, Bill shouted "your float rod is bent over" as I looked up, he was allready picking up my rod and poaching what turned out to be a nice Wrass !
Soon one of my big rods was indicating a fish, I started to reel in what seemed to be another big heavy doggie, when it snagged onto something. I managed to free it and still had the weight on it, I could see the shockleader moving left to right and realised this wasnt a dogiie, it was a cracking Wrass ! (a Ballan I think).
This happenned again a little later with the same result,.
All in all we had a great evenings fishing (considering we were on a receeding tide). The weather was great and we left around midnight due to yet another attack of the doggies !
The fish we managed were :- Wrass, a scorpion fish, a few codling, whiting, and countless doggies.
As usual I will put up the pics on monday when I get to my work PC.
