PostSubject: The Celtic Sole Brothers!!!   Sun May 23, 2010 12:07 am

Venue - Rhyl
Duration - 8 hrs
Bait: Fresh Lug, Peeler Crab, Fresh Rag, Fresh Shrimp, Frozen Lug, Squid, Razor + Mackerel
Boat - Suveran II
Skipper - Simon Parry
Date - 21st May 2010

Last time we were on Suveran, we had to scrape 2 inches of ice from the rear deck prior to our Mersey Charter.

5 months has flown by and we had no such problems today!

The forecast was great, with no wind and 20 degrees promised for our first summer charter of 2010.

Our first mark was a secret spot on the river Dee. So secret infact, that a thick vail of fog was supplied to obscure any land references!

Flatties were our intended targets. Be them Plaice, Dab or Flounder.
Most of us were using 2 hook Jensen Plaice rigs.
The first fish of the day was indeed a flattie.
Not quite what we were expecting though, but a welcome surprise!!

Plenty of Dabs were showing.

A single Doggie added a bit of variety, as did a small, surprise, Bass for Martin!

Loads of Dabs kept us busy, but surprise number 3 came in the shape of a Dover Sole for Sinbad!

Next up was the rough ground in Prestatyn.
Decent Smoothies had been reported, so our rigs were swapped for single hook affairs with either Shrimp or Crab being the popular choices.
The Smoothies were in. No monsters, but fish to about 6lb were giving a good account on the light gear.

The final mark of the day saw us making the short hop to fish the banks for something more edible.
Fresh Lug this time was the preffered bait.
Things were quiet here. A few nibbles with the occasional Pan Sized Dab showing.

The day was over in a flash!
With a nice mixed bag throwing up a few surprises, it was yet another fantastic day out on Suveran.

Happy Days!!!
