Jabula Empty
PostSubject: Jabula   Jabula EmptySun May 16, 2010 12:18 am

Venue - Rhyl
Duration - 5 hrs
Bait: Fresh Lug, Fresh Shrimp, Frozen Sandeel
Boat - Deepstar

Today was more about experience than fishing.
It would be rude not to get the rods out though!!!!!!

The Maestro and Sinbad were on as crew.
With more sea time between them than I could ever hope to achieve, it was great to have them onboard.
I was all ears!

We didn't venture far. The Smoothie mark at the end of the river was our intended mark, although with my Echo Sounder not talking to the transducer, we nearly missed it!

Safely at anchor, it was time for a spot of fishing.

Mehmet was first to drop down.

Jabula Maestro

Several small Whiting and the occasional Dab for him on Fresh Lug and a Jensen 3 Hook Flowing trace.
Sinbad favoured the Jensen 3 Hook Paternoster, with similar results.

I was hoping for a Bass with Fresh Lug on a 3/0 Pennel.
No such luck though!
A couple of small Whiting but no target species.

Simon kindly donated some Fresh Shrimp as he passed.
This improved our fortunes.

I had a decent Smoothie followed swiftly by Sinbad.

A single Doggie to The Maestro and a Weever for Sinbad completed the fishing.

The short trip back in passed without drama and when safely moored up, it was officially 1 trip accomplished!

The training continues!!!!!!!!

Jabula!!!!

My sister is called Bula. Many years ago, as a family, we emigrated to Swaziland due to my fathers work at the time.
We ended up living in Jabula Crescent in Mhlambanyatsi.

It's word that has strong family meaning to me, especially since Jabula, roughly translated, means 'Happy Days' in Siswati.
