January 01 2009 - Fresh start or false dawn?
With a whole year’s fishing to fit in I prepped up some tackle on New Year’s Eve intending a fresh start over Low at Dawn on New Year’s Day.
After the inevitable late night I woke 2 hours too early then fell back to sleep until 3 hours too late - I blame that last pint of Lambrini…
Plan B was a very cold Splash Point over afternoon High.
Seems someone was lighting up the sky here last night.
Sunny, windless, cold, Rhyl
I went light, just an ounce of lead.
Gordon and Ian turned up, they struggled to check their tackle in the cold
And Clueless saw the rod tips and stopped by for a chat (and I bumped into Squidward later)
It was turning into a meeting of Sunny Rhyl illuminaries.
Anybody lose a glove at the meet on Sunday night? Found this near the flashy light,
Thankfully there were no fingers in it.
We cast near and far with rag, lug, squid and
were asked ,“what do you catch here?“ fourteen times.
Loads of people out promenading but the bites were nil, which means that so far this trio have blanked all year.
But with fresh air, sea and chat it wasn’t a damp squib
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year
