Musselboy persuaded me to take him out for a spot of night fishing at half term. Due to halloween today and a sporting event I have foolishly entered tomorrow (Hellrunner, with the ominously titled “bog of doom“), last night was our only chance.

It was a bit of a rush to sort some gear, and only bait we had was frozen leftovers from other trips.



Thought it was time to introduce him to some proper fishermans food. Don’t worry son, the peas probably count as one of your five a day …



Musselboy had loads of bites. Ended up with one whiting and a crab …



After three hours and no bites for me, he eventually persuaded me to stop the monster hunting, take off the half a mackerel I had on a 4/0 hook, and put on a size 4 with a small piece of squid. Two minutes later …



Not the busiest nights fishing but a fun time was had.
