PostSubject: the mersey/otterspool thurs   Fri Oct 30, 2009 12:02 pm

Hi all me and fiona headed to the river hopoing to hunt some coddos down,we got to otterspool an hour os so before and fished the flood.

big baits were mounted onto the pully pennels, frozen blacks and squid to try and tempt the fish,i even used frozen crab, nothing really happened till the tide started to flood i hadf this little un......still more than i had last season, caught on sqid on a loop rig,as the pully was a waste of time......

fiona got a rockling then shortly after by a small codling.....

the funny thing was no whiting just small codling,i got 4 little uns, fiona had 2 codling and a rockling,we packed up just before high water as the wind had picked up,there was another guy fishing further down he had 2 small codling, still it was nice to be out and not a blank session.

tight lines all.

yes its a good venue spaceman, only problem is parking, ive had some good coddos at this venue,i tend to fish tides from 23ft to 27 otherwise you might as well forget it,you could use a 8oz and still not hold bottom,i normally use 5oz uptide weights with long wires,i used 5oz breakaways yesterday the tide started to pull bout mid tide they held though, peeler crab is the best bait this time of year and when the weather gets really cold, minus conditions worm and squid baits,my best off the shore was at the priory(birkenhead)weighed just over 5lbs.

oh dont park on the prom,as you will get moved or fined.

click on this link for the venue.
