If you really interested in eels have a look hear http://www.nationalanguillaclub.co.uk/ I used to be a member many years ago. One of the best places in the UK for eels was the Brickworks Pond. It was a well kept secret, The Anguilla Club members would come and fish it often, my PB was 4lb 12oz, Harry Griffiths had one over 5lb. But one guy who used to come up from the Midlands had a couple of double figures, his favoured bait was live goldfish. Then over quite a short period of time they seemed to dissapear, all the eels we caught were returned alive, so where they went was a mystery Often thought of having a go again. Maybe put it on my 2010 to do list.

My old man told me there used to be a pond where they built the sewing factory ( now Travis Perkins )

When they drained this pond to start building the sewing factory there were some monster Eels also into double figures that made their way from there into the main Brick pond.
