its obviously a model village so just tried googling it but although it is mentioned i cant find out where..................i did find out however that the last woman ever to be hanged in britain was from rhyl lol.74 west parade to be exact.think ive said before in another post but i never realised that rhyl had such a fascinating history.Only really starting looking into it since i moved to the new pines after spending every summer here as a kid(used to stay on sunnyvale as kids when they had a pool and wooden chalets)anyone with any good websites etc about the history of rhyl let me know.....cheers

Try this one Ian, http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/northeast/sites/rhyl_town/history.shtml . If you are interested in Rhyl history, next time you're in the town, have a look in the Welsh book shop in High Street (opposite the Job Centre), they have quite a few books on Rhyl. If it's still in print "Old Rhyl" is an excellent read. There is also quite a good Museum in the Library.

[quote="Tony Lever"]Where in Rhyl was this?

It's got me stumped!

With such tourist credentials it's got to be near to the prom.
The high concrete wall/fencing looks reminiscent of a modern day Sydenam Ave.

Back of the fairground??

I'm not sure where that is, but it looks like me, the one sitting on the floor.

Correct Steve, Mike was close with his Sydenham Ave. People came from all over the world to see our minature Welsh Village "Pentre Bach" but when they got there they realised it should have been named after the village in Dylan Thomas's "Under Milk Wood" cos' that's what they got. lol! (look it up).It was only there a couple of years then they replaced it with Rhyl Dolphinarium, Garry Marshall was one of the dolphin keepers, that didn,t last long either (the dolphin became ill, and I think one died) after it closed down Garry stayed in Rhyl for a few years skippering a charter boat, I think he went back to work with dolphins when he left.

Just remembered you used to get "HI HAT" ice cream 6d for a cone 9d for a "99"
