The boats catch them in a hole which is off the end perch.

A good cast on a big tide should get you in or around this hole. Its somewhere ive meant to try for a couple of years but have never got round to it.

I think Mike and Sinbad have fished the same area and had some nice Bass from there.

I can only see it being fishable for an hour either side of low though as its pretty flat that far out.

When are you thinking of Joe?

Dickie had one from Towyn last year.

As for fishing Rhyl, as Kev said, a big tide should give you half a chance of reaching them.

One date that stands out is Saturday 22nd August 2009. The biggest tide of the year if i've got it right. 7.35am Kinmel Bay time.

I'll be there Smile

It could possibly be the same "hole".

Maybe one of our friendly local skippers could give us a hint?

Let us know nearer the time and i will probably meet you there Joe.

there is no "hole" its the low water mark that runs right along the coast and even on the biggest tides you are still going to need a huge cast to reach it. personally i think the best option would be to try by prestatyn sailing club because the drop off is steaper there so you might be in with more of a chance

I still feel the urge to try Kinmel Bay Smile

More a labour of love than anything.

Sinbad and I tried it last year.
A suitably large tide was selected.(although not the biggest of the year)
The long walk, way past the end perch, even crossing over the river to reach the furthest bank we could.
Suveran was within what seemed like casting range, although it was probably a good 500yds away.
Like the anglers onboard Suveran, we were fishing fresh crab baits on single 4/0's. We were clipped down and launching as far as we could.

We could clearly see decent fish being landed on Simons boat.
A few hours fishing was managed before the tide pushed us back.
Result for Simons crew, countles Smoothies, Ray, Doggies, Dabs, Whiting.

Result for Sinbad and I ........................................

1 Rockling!!!!!!!!!!!!

As has been said before, reaching that drop off seems to be the key.
