PostSubject: Beneath A Steel Sky!   Fri Aug 14, 2009 10:01 pm

Venue - Rhyl
Duration - 5 hrs
Bait: Fresh Lug, Fresh Shrimp, Fresh Mackerel
Boat - Suveran II
Skipper - Simon Parry
Date - 8th August 2009

With Rhyl's innaugral Air Show taking place today, our plan was to stay inshore to take in the spectacle .
The end of the river in Rhyl formed part of the Air Show exclusion zone, so a short trip to Prestatyn was in order.

Rhyl was chokker today. The new boat storage area was being used as an overspill car park. Good to see it in use!
We headed onto the pontoon awaiting Suveran.

The first couple of hours was spent targetting the Bass.
Fresh Lug allround but to no avail.
A couple of modest bites were probably from flatties unable to take a 3/0 hook.
We decided to move to the rough ground and switch tactics.
Crab and Shrimp were used for the Smoothound, with the odd whole Lug flicked out just incase we got lucky.

At last we were into fish!
The Smoothound were here in numbers.

Commons and Starry's were giving a great account of themselves.

Jason and Mark on Mytime stopped by and said hello.

Rick had a single Flounder, but other than that, it was Smoothy-City!

Fishing Mackerel on a flowing trace, Rick landed a baby Tope.

On the freesh Lug, I had a run that got me excited.
Turned out to be another Smoothound. Probably the best of the day.

The Air Show came and went. It looked spectacular from where we were.
I think we had the best of both worlds today.

Happy Days!!!

Well in.

Looking forward to a Reach For The Stars ( from the shore) myself as the tide climbs onwards and upwards to next weekend.
