| The prefered method for Turbot in Cardigan Bay area used to be a live pin whiting on a long flowing trace 2-3 ft with Abu Rauto spoon about 10-12inches from the bait. If you couldn't catch any fresh whiting a dead one with the backbone and tail cut out (flapper style) on a 3/0-4/0 hook. Best I ever saw caught round here was a by young lad of about 10 fishing with lug baited cod feathers on the Constable Bank, it was about 14lb. A couple of years ago I was down in Tywyn, mid Wales (didn't have me rods) but the locals were taking them off the beach there up to 10lb on sandeel. It was early spring. |
